Window Shopping Sucks

Thu Apr 3, 2008, 9:29 AM
Well, I totally depressed myself yesterday when in a rare moment of free time at work, I decided to go online & look for Letraset markers.

Oh I found them alright! At the whopping price of 320.00 for the whole set I want. And that's just for the ProMarkers! The Trias are *gulps* $2500.00!! *dies* Eep! Why is is so much?! And why can't I have a sugar daddy to buy them for me?! :giggle:

So, I'm asking all you guys who like me (bats eyelashes sweetly) :lmao: to keep an ear to the ground, so to speak, if you can help me find a place that may sell them retail, wholesale, discounted, whatever, I'd greatly appreciate that heads up.

On another note, my weekends are now mine again, as the Arizona Renaissance Festival is finally over. The first weekend I am simply going to pack all my garb & funstuffs away & RECLAIM MY HOUSE! After that, maybe I'll be able to do more drawings &/or marker pieces to make up for the desolate lack of drawings for so long, LOL.

So, thanks to all of you guys who have been patient. Thanks to all those who have kept my spirits up & constantly reminding me why I decided to be here in the first place. Thanks to all my friends here at DA.

Just. Thank You Guys!

Eek - I can't help but over here all the smaller art stores tend to have them on sale if you buy a dozen of them or so - try the smaller stores if you can
:iconcelestiahne-damaryst:
I just need to find an actual ART store in my area... all the ones I used to go to are converted to framing stores or worse... >.<!!! Thanks for the tip, I'll keep my eye out that way!

Markers can be pricey....I don't even what to know all the $$$ I've spent over the years on markers. What is your opinion of Prismacolor markers? I've used them (with Pantone Trias and Copics) for years. Prismacolors are usually the least expensive and can be found in most craft retailers such as Michael's, AC Moore, etc. I have bought most of my markers online through Dick Blick. They have a new set of markers I'm going to look into as soon as they're availible, [link] They also have Prismacolors, [link] and the newer Trias, [link] and the ever costly Copics, [link]

If you want to keep the cost down, just buy the colors you need and build from there. Many of the colors are redundant. I've never bought an entire set at once. I have always just picked the colors that I thought I'd need the most and gone from there. Blacks and greys are very important, flesh tones as well. I would estimate I have about 250 differing colors, but I only use about 40 on a regular basis. With your work, more colors may work better though.

BTW, ebay can help too. In '06 I won 150 new Pantone markers or $81.

I hope your reclaiming your house goes good. Hoping as well too that your muse comes back in full force. I've really enjoyed your marker pieces. :)

BTW, how's the weather in Arizona in May? I'm planning a trip to northern AZ next month (and Las Vegas and southern UT).

I had totally forgotten about Prisma! Oy, such an idgit! LOL Thanks I went & faved those sites you gave me so I can bug my daddy to buy me a set.

I buy in the whole sets to save time & frustration which easily damages my muse at times... I'm such a pansy when it comes to drawing I swear! :lmao:

May? It's usually quite warm. 95 degrees & climbing into the century mark. Of course that's the Valley... take anywhere from 10 to 25 degrees off of that for northern Az. Although funny story, (true story!) I'm a native of Az. & I have never seen the Grand Canyon! >.<

Thanks for the info, Lav! I will look into ebay for cheaper markers or my daddykins to buy the more expensive set of Prismas (Although I want both now... shhhh!! :lmao:!!)

Thanks for the AZ weather tips! It's a big state...I'm eager to explore it. :)

Ebay always has the full sets of Prismacolors, the 144 sets. A friend of mine got one of these for $150 a few years ago.

Looks like you'll be a fellow marker junkie before too long...welcome aboard my friend. :D
